Chalcohalides
The mixed-anion framework creates opportunities beyond conventional chalcogenide and halide nanomaterials. Incorporating both chalcogen and halogen anions within a single crystal structure enables independent tuning of electronic band dispersion, dielectric response, and ion transport. This strategy provides a powerful platform for designing stable, lead-free semiconductor nanomaterials with tunable optoelectronic and redox properties.
Our research focuses on the colloidal synthesis of phase-pure chalcohalide nanocrystals with precise control over size, composition, and surface chemistry. By establishing clear structure-property-function relationships that link composition, dimensionality and interfaces to device performance, we aim to develop a new generation of environmentally benign, solution-processable semiconducting nanomaterials for efficient and stable energy conversion and storage.
